Aluminum Corp of China Ltd (Chalco) raised spot alumina prices by 5.7 percent to 2,800 yuan ($410.1) per tonne from Dec. 31.

The news release is quoted as saying:

Chalco (2600.HK)(601600.SS), the country’s top aluminum firm and the world’s third-largest alumina producer, raised alumina prices steadily throughout 2009 from a low of 2,000 yuan. Prices had halved in the second half of 2008 from 4,200 yuan per tonne. ($1=6.827 YUAN).
