Ormet lays off 20 workers at aluminum smelter

On Monday, Ormet Corp (ORMT.PK), an independent U.S. primary aluminum producer, laid off 20 workers at its Hannibal, Ohio smelter.

The press release is quoted as saying:

Approximately 20 people were laid off as of Feb. 1, but there was no comment on the reason for the layoffs. On Wednesday, no reason was given for the latest round of layoffs and the company would not say whether production would be affected by the latest dismissals.Ormet’s aluminum smelter has capacity of 266,000 tonnes per year with six potlines total.
